Flooded Sinkhole near Harwoods Hole

Sinkholes are natural depressions, or holes, caused by slow erosion as water grinds away at the rock below. Because the hills around Takaka are full of limestone and marble, sinkholes are common. Harwoods Hole is one of the most well-known and impressive sinkholes in the area, but along the forest trail that leads to it this small, flooded sinkhole caught my eye with its soft, poetic reflections.
