Roadside Shingleback

This big lizard is a member of the blue tongue family. As it's very common throughout Australia, it's been bestowed with an amazing array of names depending on the area you're in: shingleback, sleepy lizard, bobtail or pine cone lizard are all one and the same! They have an unfortunate habit of sunbathing on the road, and because I love them to bits I always take the time to pull over and encourage them to go back into the bush before they get squashed.
